The Story
A doctor in a rural practice needs a quantitative inflammation marker — now, not in three days from the lab. In the past, they would have needed a bulky, expensive hardware reader. Now they pick up their smartphone.
They place the rapid test in the cassette, open the app. The app checks scan conditions in real time — lighting, angle, background — and actively guides them to optimal capture. One scan, a few seconds: a quantitative result with validated accuracy, comparable to the hardware reader.
For a patient at home, it works the same way — animated guidance turns a complex diagnostic process into a simple, guided action. No special device, no training, just the phone in their pocket.
The Partnership
Immundiagnostik AG saw the opportunity to turn the smartphone in every pocket into a certified diagnostic instrument — replacing expensive, bulky hardware readers. The challenge: building a core technology that serves as the foundation for multiple standalone medical device products, works across hundreds of Android camera models, and delivers reliable results in uncontrolled home-use environments.
