The Story
A patient with a chronic condition needs regular monitoring — but not a doctor's visit every time. They order a SmarTest® test kit, take a fingertip blood sample at home, and place the test strip in the cassette.
The app guides them step by step: an animated walkthrough shows how to apply the sample, when to position the cassette. A timer counts down the incubation period. Then the camera scans the test strip — and delivers a quantitative result with clinical assessment in seconds.
Their doctor can view the results remotely and adjust therapy without the patient needing to visit the clinic. Lab quality, at home, guided by an app that makes all the complexity invisible.
The Partnership
Immundiagnostik AG and Preventis GmbH pursued an ambitious vision with the SmarTest® product family: quantitative, lab-comparable rapid test results via smartphone — for patients at home and clinicians adjusting therapy remotely. The challenge wasn't building a single product — it was scaling.
Every new test type needed to go live in days, not months, without multiplying the regulatory burden. Ten separate apps with ten separate documentation sets was not an option.
